Samples Accepted: Blood, Buccal Swabs
Locus Information: The SLC45A2 gene is involved in color synthesis in the dog. When homozygous, an abnormal version of the gene can lead to color not being made properly, resulting in albino dogs. This mutation has been found in several small, long-haired dogs, including an albino Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, Pomeranians, and mixed-breed dog.
Test Information: This mutation test identifies a single base change in exon 7 of the SLC45A2 gene that is associated with albinism.
